And then, of course, came the fancy Captain's Dinner Friday night...

Here's Lauren, all dolled up...  Note how the dress displays not only both tattoos (see the other one in her mirror reflection), but her charmingly patchy sunburn acquired earlier that afternoon!

And here's me, in the dress I had worn to "Midnight Mass" on Christmas Eve.  Mom said this pose made me look like a "total floozy," which is *much* more politely than I would have phrased it!

And here's Mom, finishing out the set!

We shared a table with some of Mom's work buddies the three nights we were there...

Here are Gina (who had been known to claim to work for a computer magazine that had taken to boosting subscriptions with porno inserts) and her friend Tara.  They had a room with *portholes*, of much higher quality than any of the rest of the group had gotten. (According to these two, it wasn't just the portholes but the jacuzzi, the spiral staircase to the second level, and Sven the masseur that made their digs so much palatial than ours.)

Here are Mom's coworker Peggy and her husband Gary.  They were excellent competition for Gina and Tara when it came to interesting dinner conversation.  Among other topics was the probable condition of the neighborhood in Washington they had once lived in, since the epicenter of a recent quake had been six miles from their former house...

And here's the three of us, poring over our menus. (I finally got the escargots I hadn't gotten to try in Paris...)
