And back to the main beach we went...

One of the locals was offering coconut milk, straight from the nut (chopping it open and inserting a straw) -- but at $3, we decided we weren't that interested...

I just want to say how smug I was about actually managing to time the frustratingly slow shutter speed of my digital camera to the sway rate of the hammock, catching Lauren at the best angle of the swing...  We were starting to settle in and get comfy in a pair of these (Lauren with a cigarette and me with a book), before I started to get antsy at the possibility of being left behind. (My cheap watch unfortunately having fallen victim to saltwater immersion, the only way to know when reboarding time for the Calypso had arrived would be to actually see the passengers lining up...)

And so we returned to the main beach.  And the most frustrating thing was to wander all over that damned lagoon (and I did!) and not find a single spot deep enough for even half-immersion, let alone actual swimming...  Anyway, that tower behind me was called Blackbeard's Tower, as I recall.  The closest look we had at it was passing by on the Calypso, but we could have gone up in it had we cared to wander around to that part of the island...

We both got our fair share of wading in the lagoon, though.

Notice how many more pictures there are of Lauren than of me?  ;-)  New digital camera, and I was *very* cautious about letting anyone else use it...

And here's a closer view of Blackbeard's Tower (with its cannon at the base), taken as the Calypso went past as we left at the end of the afternoon...
